Leisure

Leisure opportunities within the borough are varied and plentiful.  Boasting no less than 70 parks, 34 children's play areas, leisure centres, theatres and cinemas.

Reigate Hill and Gatton Park in particular are splendid areas for walking.  Reigate Hill's views are breathtaking, taking in the Weald and the South Downs.

Priory Park, in Reigate, provides some 200 acres of open space and woodland. Once home to Lord Howard Effingham, Admiral of the Fleet during the Spanish Armada as well as to the family of one of Henry VIII's wives, Catherine Howard .

Reigate Castle

There are free tennis courts, a skate park and a children's play area. The Council have revamped the entire park after receiving a 4.2 million Heritage Lottery Fund Grant and restored to it's former Victorian splendour.

Castle Grounds

By contrast the Castle Grounds, tucked behind the shops in the High Street, provide a quite retreat.  The public can also gain access to the historic caves, beneath Reigate linked by legend to the signing of the Magna Carta.  These are open during the Summer and guided tours are available.
