Leisure

Leisure opportunities within the borough are varied and plentiful.  Boasting no less than 70 parks, 34 children's play areas, leisure centres, theatres and cinemas. 

Reigate Hill and Gatton Park in particular are splendid areas for walking.  It's views are breathtaking, taking in the Weald and the South Downs. 

Priory Park, in Reigate, provides some 200 acres of open space and woodland. Once home to Lord Howard Effingham, Admiral of the Fleet during the Spanish Armada. 

Reigate Castle

There are 3 free tennis courts, skate park and children's play area. The Council are revamping parts of the park after receiving a 4.2 million Heritage Lottery Fund Grant.  More details of the plans can be found on the Council's website link below.

Castle Grounds

By contrast the Castle Grounds, tucked behind the shops in the High Street, provide a quite retreat.  The public can also gain access to the historic caves, beneath Reigate linked by legend to the Magna Carta.  These are open during the Summer and guided tours are available.
